Duration of labor in dogs depends upon litter size. Labor in dogs can be of 6-30 hours. First stage of labor is characterized by pacing and restlessness which can last for 6-24 hours. After this stage, second stage of labor starts during which first puppy is born. After the delivery of first puppy, mother can rest for 15 minutes to 2 hours. Then second puppy is born and same process of of stage 2 labor is repeated. All puppies are born in 2-6 hours depending upon litter size. So, total time of labor in dogs can be of 6-30 hours.
