Yes, usually a tick bite causes a large lump underneath the bitten area: Some animals have a larger reaction than others too. If you spot a tick on your dog - or cat - you must make sure you get it out as soon as possible. A tick might look like a black dot or mole for example. It is probably best to use tweezers to remove the tick, and you must make sure you get all of it out - the head especially, as that will be where the tick is in deepest. Clean the bitten area and put some antibiotic cream or ointment on it to kill any microbes that might cause a disease or the bite to get infected. If the lump doesn't go down, gets bigger, or starts to look infected, be sure to take your animal to the vet: Any infections must be treated properly otherwise your pet may suffer a lot more than they need to, and a tick bite could cause a painful wound if it doesn't go away quickly. Also take your dog to the vet if you don't think you got all the tick out. If you're worried about your dog getting more ticks, there are a few things you can do to help prevent them: Always check your pet over for any ticks or signs of them having been bitten for example. There are also products you can buy, such as 'Frontline' - this helps to prevent fleas as well as ticks. You apply it once a month to your dog's neck using a small pipette; Frontline for cats is also available. My dog got a tick bite about two weeks ago, I removed it and it now is a big bump with a scab on the end it isn't causing him any problem when touching it and I have put antibiotic spray on it should I take him to the vets? Or is this normal after a bite. Ann
My 10 yr old dog has been bit a few times and developed bumps around the bite. I had it checked out and my very trustworthy vet said that is common and nothing to worry about. Just clean the bite area and keep an eye on it for a while.
Tick bites are caused by Ticks that are small wingless Bugs. Tick bites often cause swellings and infection on the affected area. You must take immediate steps to take care of this otherwise it might cause spread out and cause serious infection. See the link below for details:

Do tick bites on dogs generally get swollen or become hard bumps?
I pulled a tick out of the belly of my dog but it is red about an inch round with white in the middle
that is what I noticed first and then found the tick is this something I should worry about

Yes, it's a histamine reaction to the bite. It should go down in a couple of days. Make sure it doesn't have signs of infection or abscess. If it has pus, gets hot to touch, swells up more, or if dog acts sick, take him to the vet for treatment. Best wishes:)
My lab had what looked like a large wart on his nose, when vet removed it surgically the histology revealed infection caused by tick bite, he has been on antibiotics and his sutures had to remain in for longer than normal as it was slow to heal , but he is ok, now keep up frontline treatment all year!!!
Often dogs will scratch off a tick. When that happens, the snout/syphon of the tick is left in the skin (why they say to burn off a tick) often this is the cause of the infection. It is not necessarily the bite of the tick itself. Aicha is correct though, seek immediate attention for your animal. Antibiotics are needed, and perhaps they can get the bite cleaned out. Basically, go to a vet.
Do tick bites gets swollen
Not, really when they were on my dogs they left things like rashes and dried up blood.
Well it should look kinda black or purple because a tick is a bug that gets under pet or humen skin and then you use fire on the bump to kill it and it will fall out of skin it wont hurt our kill you
