Its best to leave the unopened bag floating in the tank for 15-30 minutes then add a little of your tank water to the bag, and let it sit for another 15-30 minutes, this lets the fish get used to the chemistry in your tank. Do not just dump the fish and the water from the pet store into your tank, if that water has any parasites or diseases it could kill the other fish.
