My Cat Is Panting What Does That Mean?

Cats will pant in extreme heat or when they play too hard. If you are playing with your cat and she starts panting, stop playing with her for a while and let her rest. Sometimes a cat will pant when frightened or overly stressed. My son's cat becomes stressed while riding in the car and she starts panting. If you cannot determine the reason your cat is panting then you should have her examined by a vet.

You might want to have your cat checked for a heart murmur...my friend's cat developed a heart murmur and then we discovered he had hypertrophic cardiomyopathy...an enlarged heart...she said that when he was a kitten, he would pant and breath heavy after playing...

Could be a cardiac problem. Your cats lose of weight and rapid breathing could indicate she's trying to compensate for inadequate heart function--take her to a vet-she might need to be put on a diuretic to help her possible cardiac dysfunction. Unfortunately cancer could also be a possible--If you love her -take her to a vet!

My cat does this also.  His heavy breathing is caused by asthma.

A cat should NOT breathe like its panting... If your cat begins panting and it is not due to a frightening or stressful event, consult your veterinarian immediately.

We don't have vet here in my place. Is there any possibility I can help my car. He can't barely walk now. He is 2 year (Human life) and I think he is still young. He can barely eat. Please help

This situation is found in various cats and is known as exercise intolerance. Such cats get difficulty in breathing and get tired soon when they are active. It is indicating disease of lungs and heart disease. Lungs disease often leads to heart diseased because heart has to work hard in case of lungs disorder to pump blood. So it is better that you go to vet immediately.

I don't know what made him sick, but he is definitely ill. If it is feline leukemia, you definitely need to get him to the vet, because this is usually fatal if not caught in time.
