Some neutered male cats do spray, although it doesn't stink as bad as that of an un-neutered male's. However, spraying in neutered males indicates that something is wrong, either with the cat's health or that it is not happy and is being stressed by something. Urinating and defecating outside the litter box can often mean that the cat is under a lot of emotional or physical stress.
Yes they can do because it is environmental but it does not have the pungent smell of the entire Tom cat. Some sensitive neutered cats can spray because of stress. The more cats there are in a household puts up the risk of this. I was told by a vet. That the usual threshold for this type of stress spraying is having 8 cats in one home, even in neutered mixed sex homes.
I have 2 male cats that have been fixed n never sprayed before or after...my mom has had 2 male cats 1 sprayed before n after the other 1 didnt...
