Do you feed it enough? Is it a active dog? When was the last time your vet dewormed your dog? Any metabolic issues you are aware of? Or maybe YOUR food just smells really good since they have a much better sense of smell and if it smells good to us imagine how it smells to them. Do you 'share' with your dog? If so you trained your dog to act that way (not to mention health issues). There can be medical reasons for that so I'd ask my vet to be safe but it's probably that he expects to share if it's mostly when your eating.
