Cats can lose the use of their back legs due to a number of serious conditions. If you discover your pet in this condition, then you should rush them to the vet immediately, as your cat may be in extreme pain and discomfort.

The condition which is causing the loss of use of your cat's back legs may be able to be treated by a vet, depending on its severity and amount of pain that your pet is in.

In the worst-case scenario, the vet will euthanize (put to sleep) your cat to stop its suffering and pain.

I cannot stress enough that you need to take your pet to the veterinary practice immediately.

Here are some conditions which your cat may have:

  • Trauma: A fall from a height could have caused your cat to fracture its legs.
  • Thrombosis.
  • Diabetes.
  • Cancer.
Some of the above diseases can be treated, if your pet is taken to a vet straight away.

Could be diabetes, also urinary problems. Not always a need to put them to sleep. Can sometimes recover. Need to go to vet and do bloodwork ASAP.
