I would not feed green onions or any type of onions to dogs.  Onions, from the Allium family, cause hemolytic anemia in dogs and cats.  Green onions are immature onions in the Allium family.  If you want to use vegetables as treats consider carrots or green beans.

I just dropped a very small piece of green onion and my small dog was faster then me and ate it. Should I worry? I know onions are not good for dogs, but it was a very small piece.  Thank you for your answer,

From what I've read, onions are NOT good for dogs. I'd stay safe and not allow the dog to eat green ones, either. Also, bad for dogs are raisins and grapes and others I don't remember right now.

My dog just ate about a dozen green onion roots, thanks to my mom.  Should I take him to the vet?
