I just had to have my bunny put to sleep last night...I am a wreck today.  But I'm so sorry to tell you that she had the same symptoms, she kicked too hard when someone picked her up incorrectly (a veterinary technician actually...never trust ANYONE to handle your baby unless you KNOW they are educated on bunnies)...Anyway, she stopped using her back legs and at a COMPETENT vet clinic, they said she had a spinal injury and those are never reversible they said...at least they had never seen it.  I hope your news is better.... :( At least the paralysis, I HOPE, means it's not TOO painful... Sorry for your little friend's situation.

There are many possibilities about weakness of the back legs in the rabbits. Some of these are serious and should be investigated by the vet. Common causes of weak hind legs in rabbits are
  1. Arthritis
  2. Ulcerated feet
  3. Trauma
  4. Cancer
  5. Bacterial infection
  6. Stroke
  7. Toxins (medicines, chemicals )
  8. Disc problems
  9. Spinal problems
  10. Neurological diseases
So, you should take your rabbit to vet for differential diagnosis and treatment.

I had a dwarf rabbit named Lola she was one and one of the cutest rabbits I have ever seen. I came home from my exam and opened their hutch yesterday sky came running out she is my other bunny much larger than Lola however Lola didn't come out and remained lying there so I went to stroke her usually she would jerk away but she didn't I found this odd as she is very timid as never been handled very much, so I went to pick her up to put her by some water as it was hot out and I thought she was dehydrated her whole body was lifeless and when I let go she flipped back down she was just lying there with her eyes open only breathing and every few minutes would make these weird jerking movements. I took her straight to the vets and they took her in at around 4 at about half 6 I went back in and they told me she had made little progress she still couldn't move they said she had low blood pressure and glucose levels and so they gave her fluids and antibiotics but they told me I was fighting a losing battle and so I ha

D to make the decision to have her put down which was the hardest decision I had to make as I didn't want to but thought it was best for Lola now my question is that this was very sudden. She did not seem sick before this the only things i can think of are she didn't run around the garden as much I didn't give them their usual pellets that week and I did see a few 'night poos' Neither of them have been neutered or vaccinated and I wanted to know what people thought was the most likely cause could it have been VHD? Or cancer? Or e. Cuniculi? If I took her home would she have recovered? No cats/foxes have ever been in our garden and their hutch is very secure I highly doubt this was the reason? All the vets screen said was that she had low temp of 34.9 low glucose levels and no fly strike they did no other tests? Should they have? Should I go to a better vets next time around I will most probably be getting more rabbits and I'd like some help as for some closure even if it's only a theory, please help
