I didn't know that they could bite people.. I had always heard that they were built for biting insects so that they would have a lot of trouble biting a person if they tried to.
If the bite is there, it's one thing, if they could puncture the thickness of the human skin, they could be lethal.
Get this, my mom actually went to er i dunno 10 years ago or so for spider bite on her neck that made her unable to move her neck and was progressively getting worse. Through bite pattern test and don't know how but sampling the venom they were baffled to find both matched the description of the "harmless to human" daddy long leg. She had to go twice a day for 2 weeks to run iv and sometimes still gets the stiffness in neck and down her arm. Weird, huh ?
Nope, did not have the foggiest!
Yes, and they are poisonous, to animals if ingested. My vet told me that a couple of years ago.
I heard that they are one of the most poisonous spiders, but they have no way of injecting their venom.
I thought their mouths were too small to bite, and if they did, the bite would be fatal!
Indeed I knew... And I also knew that their teeth are too small [or our skin is too thick] for them to succeed in biting a human. Did you know that "Daddy Long Legs" are known as harvester spiders?
I knew that and also knew there mouth is to small to really do anything to your skin. But if it could it would most likely kill you!
I've always heard that they couldn't bite, I was just one of many kids who played with them.
My daughter just woke up screaming i didnt know why. So i pulled off her pj's and she had a rash all over her stomach and her whole body was very hot. When i looked in her pj's to see what could have caused it. I found a Daddy long leg !!! After the rash went away there was a bite mark where the rash was. So maybe Daddy long legs do bite!! I thought they couldnt bite ether till this happened.
It's a myth people, daddy long legs are not poisonous to humans, period.
Daddy long legs bite bugs.
Yes they do bite and can cause serious harm to people...states scientist Dr. Lee from the Queensland science unit! So be careful
Go to this page for a bite story. I don't know if it's real. I always knew they were one of the most venomous spiders, but their fangs couldnt bite human flesh.
