Puberty in dogs is achieved after 6-8 months of age but larger breeds can take longer time and smaller one can become adult earlier. As St. Bernard breed is large breed, her first heat cycle starts late and can take an average of 18 months. The life span of this dog breed is 8-10 years. St. Bernard dog can come in to heat twice in a year which is general rule for almost all dog breeds.
