There are many possible explanations of sores in the ears of your dog. These sores can be due to bacterial or fungal infections, ear mites, allergic reactions, foods, chemicals and insect bites.

If your dog has developed these sores suddenly, then there is possibility of some foreign bodies in the ear like grass seed or food particle. Gradual development of sores in ears are usually due to infection and allergic reaction.

Treatment depends upon underlying cause, e.g. Antibiotics for bacterial and antifungals for fungal infections, antihistamines and topical corticosteroids for allergic reactions. So, it will be good to see a vet for proper diagnosis and treatment.
