A spider hunts for food in a number of ways; some spiders hunt food the usual way by spinning a web and then waiting for an insect to fly in to the web. The web itself is of many kinds designed to trap prey in various ways; some webs are sticky while others are irregular in which the prey gets entangled. In any case when an insect is trapped the spider entwines it further in more strands and then bites it to neutralize it, often spewing digestive enzymes on the insect and then eating it or by sucking out the insides by way of its tube shaped mouth.
Some spiders like the trapdoor spiders or the funnel web spiders live in underground webs and drag passing insects in to their burrows. Some spiders like the flower spider camouflage themselves to match their surroundings. Other spiders like the wolf spiders do not spin webs but are adept at scuttling and pouncing on their prey and are known to even hunt small birds and toads. Spiders as such rarely bite humans though as a precaution insect repellents have proved to be effective especially in places where they are most likely to be found.
