I  HAVE THE SOLUTION!!!!! I suffered this exact problem for 2 years with my cat at 5:00 a.m.. He was not much a crier as he was a scratcher at the door.  As if he was trying to tunnel into the bedroom.  HERE'S THE ANSWER!!! I took 2 baking trays and put them outside the door, right up against the closed door with water in each of them.  Voila...a cat moat!!!  It ticked him off the first night or two and I think he even tried drinking them dry to no avail of course.  No I wake up at 7:00 a.m. And there he is sleeping peacefully on the other side of the moat.  We are sleeping through the night FINALLY!!!!!

I have a cat that would did the very same thing. I ended up taking a worn shirt and bunching it up and leaving it on the couch. Get up in the morn and put the cat on the shirt, and pay no attention to him till after breakfast. Then would cuddle and play. And put him back on the shirt. Had hubby treat him the same way. A little after a week he knew where to lay where he could still smell us, and knew he wouldn't get any attention until we said so. Worked like a charm. I also put a worn shirt in his carrier when he goes to the vet, puts him  more at ease.

My cat used to get me up at 5am. No -she doesn't want love from me and no- she doesn't want a friend to play with. We already have another cat in the house that raised her. Plus, we have a dog that she likes to sleep with. With that being said. She wants me up so I can let her outside. I do get up. But, I don't let her outside. I give her a bath. It took 3 baths before she figured out not to bother me.

We have to play with our kitty before we go to bed, wear him out so he will sleep! Your kitty just wants attention, he loves you and wants to be loved also.....Sometimes we have to give into our pets a little---compromise.....They have souls too, you know! Make a deal with him!
Good luck! Cyndi

I agree with CMG. I'm sure he just wants attention. Animals, especially those raised by humans, certainly have emotions and feelings of loneliness, etc.  Kitty just wants to be with mom & dad. But I can beat that...my cat wakes up every morning like clock work at 3am. He starts running from one end of the house to the other. He sounds like a little buffalo romping around, crashing and banging into things. God forbid he finds a button or a hair tie or something to play with....sounds like world war III in my living room.  (LoL) got to love them! Maybe if you put a little cat bed on the floor he will get used to sleeping there and won't want to come up on the bed. My cat will sleep where ever he finds something fuzzy....like on top of my slippers.

I just love animals. They are so innocent and adorable. I don't like my cat on the bed either, he sheds an awful lot, but I didn't have the heart to lock him out. I put the kitty bed in there and it seemed to pacify him. Have a great night~~
