On insect bites of any kind that leave painful or itching welts or bumps, I use the highest quantity of cortisone cream I can buy. Are You Having a Serious Reaction?
Of course, if you feel you're having an intensely serious reaction, or you think you're allergic to the insect bite, you should always go to the ER. Your life is worth more than telling the ER staff that they'll have to accept time payments for their services (I've done it when I didn't have health insurance).
