Recently my female Pit, Seiko, had a clogged up intestinal tract. My vet had to do surgery to remove things you would not believe out of her stomach and intestinal tract. She's a chewer. Ewww. He had me to keep her hydrated with Pedialyte and Gatorade. She liked the Gatorade better as it had more flavor. Another thing to keep their blood sugar level up(when animals have vomiting and loose stools, their blood sugar drops resulting in lethargy and no energy) was to put dark Karo syrup on their gums. This doesnt require them to have to swallow anything down immediately. They automatically lick their gums and swallow..Wow what a difference that made in her energy level. After surgery, she is doing wonderfully and still every now and then, I give her Gatorade after a vigorous run just to replace the electrolytes.
