Olde English Bulldogges are likely to be healthier than the modern English bulldogs many of which have problems with breathing and hip dysplasia, and are sometimes unable to be bred or give birth naturally. Olde English Bulldogges are a separate breed from the English Bulldog.
They're taller, more athletic, healthier, a lot more responsive, and
have a kinder disposition.
Couch potatoes they are not! Oldes maintain
the instincts and intelligence and drive that English Bulldogs used to
have many, many years ago. Got my info from Coreyland breeders

We have had two great Olde Bulldogs. Tremendous heart and loyalty while always being alert yet friendly. Our breeders have taken back undesireable pups just like any other quality breeder when there was found to be an unknown defect of serious nature. The Olde is real, and it does not get recognized by the AKC because the AKC is a for profit club, that is organized by an elitist group of blue blood breeders. That's OK, and just because they do not recognize the Olde, is the same reason they did not recognize the
mastiffs for such a long time.
They saw little profit in it. The Olde Bulldog is the best dog in the world.

An Olde English Bulldog does not have the square face that is popular today.  I owned one of each. The dam (olde english) the Heatherbull line, and her son (english) the great grandson of Mack all the Way - Champion lines and in the Hall of Fame.  If you're looking for a bargain, you're probably buying a poor quality dog.  Avoid white because with white comes health issues.  I had one.  Unreputable and reputable breeders are not always truthful about their dogs. I learned this the hard way.  It is well worth your time to research the breed and the look of the line that interests you.  Bulldogs are high maintenance.  These beautiful, courageous, loyal and  funny dogs will forever steal your heart.  While you've probably heard bulldogs were bred to fight bulls in the ring during Roman times.  They originally came from Spain, although the English claim them.  Bulldogs are true gladiators - the killing instinct has been bred out of them.  However, the instinct to hold on with those powerful jaws has not... It's genetic trait well past 7 generations necessary to breed out numerous other unpleasant traits.  Bull baiting was in fact used to bring down bulls with those powerful jaws. The bulldog did so by lunging at the nose of the bull, cutting off its air supply. The dog was swung madly from side to side, breaking bones in the process, yet would not relent until the bull fell to the ground and died.  There is just no there dog fo me. Good luckl

It depends on the bloodline. As a whole they are less prone for the common ailments that a English have and as a whole can breathe better, breed naturally and whelp without help and are less prone to the other faults that the English are known for.. As any other dog research the line you are planning to purchase, ask questions, look at dogs from several kennels, ask for references,  ask about any health testing done, ask about a contract, ask to see a pedigree if possible and do all the things that you would with any breed. Having AKC papers doesn't guarantee that a dog is healthy or won't have problems down the line. Registration papers are only as good as the information a kennel owner furnishes the registry.

There is no such thing as an Olde Bulldogge according to the AKC (American Kennel Club). The American Kennel Club is a reputable organization that tracks pedigrees on generations of purebreed dogs. To say the Bulldogge is more healthy is irresponsible.  It is not more healthy, or smarter than the Bulldog (often referred to as the english bulldog).  Olde Bulldogge "breeders" often do not have contracts or take a dog back if you have problems. Reputable breeders will.  If any "breeder" says their dogs are more healthy than any other or they don't have health problems it should raise red flags for you. Go to www.theakc.org for information on picking a puppy and finding a REPUTABLE breeder. Not the Internet.

Www.dogbreedinfo.com has pictures and information about both breeds. An Olde English Bulldog is a recreation of the original bulldogs. The English Bulldog is the modern, AKC bulldog.
