That happened to my friend. I was just looking online for something now that might be able to tell what it was. Apparently her cat let out a scream, fell of the arm of the chair and started vomiting blood and frothing at the mouth. He died few minutes after. =(

I wish I could find out what it was because she saw this happen and it might give her some closure. She can't stop thinking about it.

Old Spot On Flea & Tick Control can cause the symptoms above specially the low priced ones. Sometimes, dog spot flea control can be confused with a formulation specific to cats. This is why medication should be read several times, before and during application even when one already knows it for sure. (Also, sometimes medication outside is different from what is inside the box.) This can also be probably caused by an ingested poison (e.g. Household drugs and chemicals). Sorry for your loss.

There are a lot of possibility. Bleeding can be a sign of internal problems.Cats with chlamydia, a bacterial infection that starts in their upper respiratory tract, will often have swollen and bloody gums. Leukemia, kidney disease, and cancer can also cause the gums to bleed. So can an immune system disorder called thrombocytopenia, which damages the cell-like structures in the blood that aid in clotting.

Maybe he (or she) came home to you after it was hit by a car. That's what happened to my cat, he was hit in the head by a car, came home while his head was bleeding. Cheer up - as long as you remember that he (or she) is in a pain free world now. Smile when the sun shines!!! And keep smiling when it doesn't!
