My 5 month old kitten has the same thing and he is an indoor cat. But he was at my parents house with their 2 cats who go in and out. I think these are mites of some sort but not sure what kind. Thinking about calling his vet tomorrow
My Kitten (a Stray) Has Reddish Brown Bugs Crawling On Him. They Are Not Near His Ears. He Is Not Really Scratching Much. I Tried To Pick One Off But It Crawled Away Quickly And Burrowed Into His Fur. Any Ideas What Type Of Bug This Might Be?
These are not fleas, my cat has the same, and I did exactly the same as you, tried to catch it and it just ran off!... Fleas are literally tiny tiny little black spots, fleas are tinier that pin heads these are small reddish brown bugs like a tiny grain of rice and they crawl. Fleas jump. Please let me know as I am trying to trawl the web to look for the answer myself.
More than likely he has fleas, take him to the vet and get Frontline, it works really well, kills the fleas and prevents further infestations.
