I have had several dogs who have lived a ripe old age. My German Shepard Daisy did just that, she begged to go outside and did not want to come back into the house, it was time. This also happened with our elder Keeshond. I am not sure why they do this. I think they just know, instinct.

Many older people will tell you this and there is some truth to it. Animals have it geared in their brains not to show weakness. If they are sick enough or injured enough, it is easier to simply wander off to die in peace rather than to be picked on or attacked on by other members of the pack. LUCKILY in this day and age of modern medicine, many animals can now get veterinary care, so don't give up on your pet if you think he may be ready to die. There just may be some hope left if you get him to a vet.

Most of the times it is true. I had a shepherd mix and he died of old age. He went to a corner of our back yard between some bushes and died there. We did not find him until it was time for his meal and we were looking for him. Sadly we found him dead. A couple of hours before that happened he was extra cheer full and wanting to play and kiss us. It was as if he knew he was going to die. Try to take him to the vet first to see if he has any hope.

Hello I had a fox terror 5 years old and about one month ago he ran away but he did look sick.
And he was just laying around witch isn't normal for a 5 year old dog.  After the atemp of Puting him inside to see what was wrong he was very under stress so we let him out side and I haven't seen him since. And As we live out in a little bit of bush that can be harder to find him. Can someone tell me where to Find him and what to do!

Thanks!
