Anywhere from 3 to 6 feet long in the south eastern states. The length of the snake is not half as important as the identity of the species. Many snakes can be black colored. Some are poisonous and some are not. Rat snakes are black and NON poisonous but cotton mouths are black and VERY poisonous. Know your species if you have snakes in your area.
