No, I'm afraid your wrong... You have to go through some paperwork with the EPA, but you can own a full breed, or hybrid wolf. They are a animal that is much more different to take care of than most, but if you can, they are the best animal you could ever hope to have. And I say the best way to buy one, is go online, search for a good breeder, and MAKE SURE that it comes with paperwork.
Wolf puppies are not for sale any wear legally. Wolves are protected species,on occasion wolves will cross breed a domestic dog, those are only half wolf what they call a white fang, very hard to find,,people claim a lot that thier dog is part wolf that is usually bull, unless you have been up close and personal with a live wolf you can not tell wolf from big hairy wolf looking dog,yes I have seen wolves in nature much closer than I would have liked. If you do locate wolf puppies, get a blood test at a local vet, before you shell for what might be a wannabe wolf. Tell the vet you hit this animal with a car,it ran off,but left a pool of blood and you are curious if it is wolf, because it sure looked like one to you. If you do get a wolf, which I doubt,at some point you will need a vet. If the vet reports you the wildlife service will confiscate the animal
So I can buy a wolf somewhere?
