The best type of thermometer to use is a digital type for several reasons.
1-if the dog bites on or crushes a normal thermometer this would leave a serious health problem.
2-a digital thermometer generally gives a reading that is gathered over an average 2 minute period,so any movements etc. By your dog wont affect the reading.
I would suggest a digital because a mercury thermometer could prove fatal if an accident happened.
