It stores fat for the frog it also controls the metabolism of the frog. In addition, it stores wastes for the frog. Female frogs have larger fat bodies because they need them for keeping their eggs warm and providing nutrients for their tadpole.

I'm pretty sure it stores fat and keeps the frog warm during hibernation.  Not positive though
