How Much Should A 5 Month Old Pitbull Weigh?

Depending on how pure the breed of Pitbull is, your dog will be 35 to 135 pounds by the time it reaches maturity. English Bulldogs only weigh up to 50 to 55 pounds, while American Pitbulls can reach 135 pounds maximum. Given that your dog is five months old, this would mean he or she would be about half their maturity weight. Most dogs once they reach one year are full size, meaning there is very little growth to expect.
As I am not an expert, I could only say your Pitbull should be about 15 to 25 pounds depending on whether it is male or female. If you do not think this is correct or if your dog weighs more consider asking a vet. You do not have to take your dog to the vet, but you can find out some statistics from them by making a phone call. Most vets or their assistants are happy to answer questions about your pet because it means you are taking care of them properly.
There are also books on the market about different dog breeds. Unfortunately, many of the online sites that offer dog breed information do not discuss weight except as a means to tell you their full grown body weight and what they should be when the dog is an adult.
It would be best to seek a vet's advice first, then try to find a dog breed book about your pitbull. Pitbulls are a difficult breed to own in certain locations meaning some countries do not allow ownership of these breeds. You may also find it difficult to find certain information due to this ownership issue, but a vet should still be able to answer general questions.

30-35 - Unless he/she's a mix. For the gigantic ones; they've got other larger beeds into them such as Neo Mastiff and American Bulldog. Razor Edge can still be a 100% pure breed but many take advandtage by the name (bloodline) and call their mixes - 100% Rasor Edge bloodline, which isn't true - This has become business and many pitbull owners/breeders are scum, this is the result... Good luck to you and your dog!

My five month old weighs in at 36 lbs and is healthy as a horse.  Mind you his father was 65 and his mother was 55.  I'm not sure that a 60 lb five month old is normal. Are you sure he is a pitbull?

My blue GOTTI/RE female is 6 months and weighs 51lbs.... Oh and she's not a mutt, it's called evolution, humans used to be 4' tall! Granted humans had a hand in their evolution, but I don't feel they should be shunned. We're all here for the breed, right? Who cares if the "originals" were smaller. Our main concern should be promoting the breed and making sure that people know these are loyal companions and not vicious beasts! Don't be a hater!

Well not all Pit Bulls are going to be around the same weight. As their is some mutts that ppl claim as pure but r just fat dogs mixed w/ APBT over 125lbs. Now that must be mixed w/ a Mastiff or a similar breed. My Blue Pit Bull parents weigh around 85 & 90lbs and their first litter usually weight in around 100lbs or so from what the guy that sold me my pup.

It depends on the dog its self. All pit are different. I have 2 3 month old pits that weigh 20 and 24 pounds. If the dog is healthy then you don't need to worry

Its up to the bloodline and or dog itself. They shouldnt weigh no less than 20 lbs at that age and can weigh up to 50 lbs plus. But average should be around 30- 35 lbs. All dogs are different.

50lbs is about what a game pit should weigh, but blue pits can range. I just bought one about 5 months ago, now 7 months and he weighs around 35lbs. He is razors edge 100%. I like the game look more than the hippo look. They are a lot more agile as a pit should be. If you can think of a dog that wasnt a mutt. Please let me know. As far as I know, all of these different  breed of dogs that exist now, were created by humans.

Different breeds of dogs that show similar physical characteristics are termed 'pit bull'. The pit bull category includes the following varieties: American Staffordshire terrier, American Pit Bull Terrier, Perro de Presa Canario, the American Bull dog, the English Bull Terrier and the Argentine Dogo. When a pit bull is five months old, he should be between one to two feet in height. The length of this five month old pit bull should be between 1.5 to 2.5 feet. It should weigh between 35- 80 lb. if it is a female it should weigh from 30- 60 lb.

Pit bulls are generally mixed breeds of dogs which are categorized under pit bull. Pit Bull is not breed name and hence is not specified under any Breed Specific Legislation.

Razors edge "pitbulls" are not full bred pitbulls. Dave Wilson has admitted to it and REAL Pit Bull owners/kennels are trying to get the UKC to revoke the papers on those mutts.
Same as for the Gotti lines and now even Gator.. They are mixing them with Mastiffs, American Bulldogs

For the S*it head who has the blog on the title "UKC BREED SPECS OF THE APBT" -- You need to get out of white trash-ville and not be so worried about pit-bulls.  APBT or not--who cares?  Dogs are dogs and no matter what they weigh, they are great companions.  You need to get a life! Lol  So go f*ck yourself! Besides, you obviously have a problem with overweight dogs.  Is that why you go running?  Can you even keep up with your dog? Haha  Try going on the blog for "The Biggest Loser".  You will have more to write about.

I've got a healthy female Razors Edge who's 6 mo. Today & wght's in at 43 lbs. Both dame & bull are purple ribbon. For those who keep calling Bully breeds mutts, it's a fact that EVERY breed WAS a mutt. What makes them a pure breed is proper breeding within so many generations so that the gene-pool & breed characteristics are established. Course no number of generations will appease those who hate the bullys, cause their APBT breeds have lost popularity en-mass, thus costing those owners & kennels untold amounts of cash on puppy sales. Too bad, so sad folks. Get over it & buy a bully if you want your money to start rolling back in! LOL!

My apbt is 4 months and 3wks she got weighed 2day and she weighs exactly 32.4lbs. As far as the people with the 100+lb pitts they are absolutely not purebread. Their genetics most definetly have been altered somewhere down the line. Either that or they were mated with an american bulldog and just lied because this is common nowadays. Apbt should weigh between 55-75lbs and no more than that. So never say that your pitt is pure because it was probly bred in the ghetto.

The standard weight for a normal size pit bull at 5 months is 20-25 lbs. They are bully sizes which are bigger but are believed to be cross bred to achieve this goal.what is defined as a true apbt should weigh between 50-70 lbs as adults.Remember pits where bred to be agile and small not stalky and clumsy.

Yea fo sho my red nose apbt is probably about 22 lbs, shes 6 months old, and she suffered from parvo for about 3 weeks. Doctor said it was a miracle she was alive. Unfortunately argentina doesnt have the best doctors I had to switch around 3 vets, and spend about a grand to get clear her. Shes on the raw diet now and is chewing on a bone of a cow leg at this very moment haha. Unfortunately she will be smaller than a normal pitbull now, she looks like shes about 3 1/2 - 4 months old, tiny, but healthy. Any advice on getting her to the norm? Shes on the raw diet, once a week vitamin injection, and running 5x a week with me.

Is it normal for a 5 month pit to urinate then lick herself while out running in the bushes, her "pee area" looks swollen, so thot she may have an infection causing pain whenever she urinates.

UKC BREED SPECS OF THE APBT
The American Pit Bull Terrier must be both powerful and agile so actual weight and height are less important than the correct proportion of weight to height. Desirable weight for a mature male in good condition is between 35 and 60 pounds. Desirable weight for a mature female in good condition is between 30 and 50 pounds. Dogs over these weights are not to be penalized unless they are disproportionately massive or rangy.

Very Serious Fault: Excessively large or overly massive dogs.
So ha! TO ALL YOU BULLY BREEDERS AND PEOPLE WHO THINK THERE DOG IS THE BOMB because IT IS HUGE, GO F*** YOURSELVES, IF YOU WANT A REAL  BULL DOG THEN BUY ONE, don't TRY AND MAKE FAKES! APBT ARE SUPPOSED TO BE ATHLETIC, NOT THOSE BIG WHALES YOU CALL DOGS, I LIKE MY DOG TO BE ABLE TO COME JOGGING WITH ME AND KEEP you, NOT BE TIRED HALFWAY AROUND THE BLOCK

I have a pure bred Red nose and she weighs 47lbs. She is on a controlled diet and gets about two hours of exercise a day. The breeder told me her physical traits are just like her dads and he is close to 90 lbs. For people who thing she's not pure bred I have papers and she is registered. I'm a first time owner so any advice is greatly appreciated.

"true' APBT's should weigh fully grown anywhere from 35-65lbs. These blue dogs everyone throwing off as pure pitbulls are American Bully's(mutts who are poorly bred I might add) Who in their right mind would pay $2500 or more for a mutt. 25lbs or so is about right for a 5 month old apbt puppy. I invite anyone who would like to challenge my statements to www.pitbull-chat.com

Yes,my male is straight razors edge and just turned six months today and is 60lbs. Last month he was between 53lbs. To 58lbs. But than again just depends on his/her genes!

She could go into heat anywhere from 6mths up but usually around 9 mths is the first heat. I don't recommend breeding her under a year old its alot safer and better for moms and pups for them to be breed after they are a year and a half old
