A real American Pit puppy would not be 30 pounds at 8 weeks. That is definitley a mutt, I'm sorry. Most likely bread with a mastiff. Average American pit puppy would be from 6-15 pounds at 8 weeks. Any more and it's probably not pure bread.

I have a 10.5 week old Brindle pitbull male and he weighs 20 lbs. His dad is 75 lbs and his mom is 65 lbs. He is going to be bigger than both though. He is way bigger than when his parents were that young.

My female pitbull is Razor Edge and Gotti bloodline and weighs 22 lbs. At 13 weeks. I found in past puppies, if you feed them rice in their food they will put on good weight, especially for the winter, and a beautiful coat.

Don't worry. My 11 week old brindle male is only 7-8 lbs. I was wondering what was wrong with him until you posted your dog's weight.   It's mostly the breed that determines the weight.

I have 2, 10 week old pitbull pups. First born (female), she is 21lbs and chunky. Last born(male), he is 13lbs and slimmer. They both have lots of loose skin so I'm hoping thats another growth spurt. As regards average weight, all pitbulls come in different shapes and sizes as you can see from my two.

If your 8 week old pitbull puppy weighed 15 plus lbs, congratulations you own an AM Bully.  Not an American Pitbull Terrier.  If your 8 week pitbull puppy weighed more than 20 lbs, you have a baby rino and not a real APBT.  Crossed bred mutts.

My boy Ace white pitbull weighs 15.4 punds in 8 weeks! I feed him home made food (chicken, beef, liver, organs + rice, carrots, beets, eggs) All in one food ..  Also dry treats and food... He is not an AM bully.... :) Its all in what you feed...

I have actually been keeping track of my puppy's weight so when we go to the vet I can be coached on whether to feed more or less.  So Far:

6 Weeks  -  7.6lbs

8 Weeks  -  10.2lbs

9Weeks  -  11.2lbs

10 Weeks  -  15.2lbs

11 Weeks  -  17.6lbs

12 Weeks  -  20.6lbs

13 Weeks  -  22lbs

When I took him in at 9 weeks, the vet told me that I was way underfeeding him and that she could see his ribs.  It sounded crazy because at 11lbs, I was feeding him enough for a 40lb dog according to the feeding chart on the bag.  I am now feeding him enough for an 80lb dog and you can still sometimes see his ribs but 90% of the time you cant.

My guess is that he will be a really great size full grow, probably 50lbs - 55lbs.  I want him to be able to run with me in the mornings and hike and be active so hopefully he doesn't grow to be too big.

6 Weeks

Its very deceptive.  I saw a Pitbull that was HUGE the other day and he was 75lbs.  I honestly thought it was a 125lb Mastiff Mix...75lbs for a Pitbull is HUGE!  You don't realize it till you see it in person.  Anyhow, good luck to all and their awesome Dogs!

The people I got my Munch from completely lied about what she is. They tried to pass her off as a lab! She had cuts on her face, neck and belly and was obviously malnourished. I had the blessing of a female brindle who was nearly perfect finding me, after whoever had her bred her and dumped her (no collar, no chip) Munch looked just like mini Angel. Angel had been bred afree fighting, she had some wild scars, like a split ear. She was 65 lbs of muscle and love.

I saw these people twice with Munch, screaming at her to go to the bathroom while she was shaking in fear. There was no way I wasn't taking her. These people were tweakers (teeth and lesions give that away). Though they were insisting she was a lab even after I made it clear I love pits and would take her off their grimy hands, they wouldn't disclose what her parents are or how they wound up with her. They insisted she was a purebred lab. No way in hell she is anything but a week bit lab.

She just lost her first teeth so I know she is approximately 12 weeks old. She only weighs 14 lbs so it seems unlikely she is purebred. When I take the mutt for her boosters they keep changing their minds. The first visit they said pit/chihuahua but she was only 5 lbs and guessed to be 7 weeks, but she was also malnourished and beat up. The next booster when she was healthy they said Staffordshire Terrier.

I will get the DNA test when she is older to satisfy my curiosity.  I don't love her less for being a mutt. She is sweet, safe, healthy and happy as can be. That's all that counts.

I hope you guys posting about weight are doing so for curiosity and health reasons, and aren't the kind of owners that have villianized one of the best breeds available by encouraging aggression. They live to please you. They are only mean if that pleases you.

Enjoy your puppies. Keep them loved and safe. Socialize them and help the cause. Let's get these sweethearts back in the good graces if the general population. Remember, if you have trouble down the line finding housing because of their breed, you chose the breed and you have committed for their life span. You don't get to change your mind.

Sorry to be preachy. I know 95% of the posters are.awesome owners. We need to shame those who fight and overbreed these loving, loyal dogs.

The males out of my last pack of pups are 25-28 at 12 weeks yesterday and females about 20-25. Blue and red nose along with fur color are just a preferable color it doesn't mean anything about the bloodlines unless the bloodline was built among color quality only. Size has just been adjusted along with deferent names apbt, American Staffordshire and Staffordshire bull terrier where names given by the akc to show indifference from selective breeding to ultimately make show quality dogs. Most if not all dogs qualities have been tampered with by th akc. Major corporations will enviably make the changes to get what they desire "money". If you want to find out what pit bulls looked like before desire was a major part. Her is a site and slide show www.myspace.com/royalkennels/photos/15550800#%7B%22ImageId%2

First, like any other dog their are different bloodlines and that can affect a dogs (or your puppy's weight) A pit a 13 weeks should probably weight at least 10 lbs. I have a fifteen month old pit female that only weighs 38 lbs. She is small for a pit but has some growing to do. The best way to find out how much your dog should weigh would be to ask a kennel breeder that is educated or a pro.

My Male Pit Puppy - (mostly red devil) is 38 pounds at 14 weeks.  His father was 95 pounds and his mother was 70.  Is it safe to say he would be around 80 pounds?  He is very long and has lots of excess skin still.
