Sea ticks, more commonly known as seed ticks, are ticks that are at the stage of just hatching from the egg. They are the larval forms of ticks and are very small, resembling a seed in shape. They attach to the human body and feed on blood. While they do not carry any infectious agents, they are carriers of some pathogenic bacteria that can be injected into the blood. Many diseases such as Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and Tularemia can be caused this way and antibiotics are required for their treatment. If you have not been infected then simply removing the ticks is a sufficient treatment.
The best way to remove seed ticks from your body is by using a pair of tweezers. Grasp the seed tick with the tweezers and pluck it out in a vertical motion. This will need to be done separately for each seed tick and you should check with a magnifying glass to see if all of the ticks have been removed. You can also try removing them using masking tape. Place it over where the seed tick is attached and pull the tape off with force so that the tick comes out with it. Using body lice shampoo can help ease the ticks from your skin. Seed ticks can cause intense itching but you should avoid applying topical cream to relieve it as this will make removal of the ticks difficult.
Try to keep the area dry. You should also avoid trying to remove the ticks using your fingernails. You may not remove all the tick this way and you may accidently squeeze some of its parts into your body. To help relieve itching and rashes make sure that the area is cleaned well after removing the seed ticks. You can then apply hydrogen peroxide using a cotton ball to the area of the bite. Placing an ice pack on the bite will help reduce the numbness and swelling, as can using tea tree or lavender oil. For the latter, apply a few drops to the affected area and leave for ten minutes. Wash off with water and repeat if the itching is still prominent.
