Bleeding in all dogs including Dachshund take place for 7-10 days during heat cycle. Before start of bleeding, swelling of vulva takes place first. During bleeding phase of the dogs, female has no interest in sex and does not allow males to come closer. Mating take place when this bleeding is reduced or ceased. This is a time when female show typical behavior called flagging that is characterized by straightening of tail to invite male dogs for mating. Mating from 11-15 days of heat cycle can lead to pregnancy. If female conceived then pregnancy can last for average 9 weeks, otherwise, she will come again in to heat after 6 months.
