About in april or may
My Mallard ducks (in CT) usually begin laying in late March.
I see many already and I believe last year it was the middle of may thru june.I hope the babies make it as where I live we have crazy drivers and hot rod wannabe's who kill wild life and pets daily.I am always moving baby raccoons and possums and cats and it should not be' if they would drive like humans are suppose to CAREFULLY>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
In the summer
I have a female mallard that started today, April 28th. She decided to make her nest right next to my house.
My mallard has layed two eggs n its 02/20,are they good ? How can I check if their good?
Depends on the latitude of the resident population. Not all ducks and geese migrate. There are resident populations all along each of the flyways. The ones that are resident in northern climates nest earlier in the year due to the fact that they do not migrate therefore their flying time is spent on the nest earlier instead of in the air. But the difference in times is not but a few days
You can check by candling them. You do that by taking a bright flashlight and taking the egg into a dark room then you put the flashlight up to the eggs.
