Snapper turtle have a very peculiar, snake like face. You can see pictures of snapper turtle on the following link so as to confirm that yours is really the one or not.

You are not supposed to get the turtle in or out of the tank, it depends on the turtle itself whether he wants to be in the water or go out of it. Keep it in such a place/tank, where there is a place for him to climb out and dry itself. It usually wants to come out of water and sit outside, where the temperature should be around 85 to 90 degree F. Snapper needs a UVB light.
The temperature of the water should be kept at 75 to 80 degree F. The tank's capacity should be around 10 gallon if your turtle's shell is 1 inch long.
It should very clean. You should have a good filter for that purpose.

I feed my turtle in the morning then they can eat all day and I let my turtle in its own pond for 4 hours a day.
