It sounds like you have a King Snake in your pool, if the stripes are circular along it's whole bod, as can be seen in the picture.
This snake is a constrictor, but are often very docile, so nothing to be afraid of! They're diet consists rattlesnakes, lizards and mice.

But yes, like the other answerer stated, it's possible that that snake is a King Snake or something along those lines. I'd be afraid of them either way, though...
