I have two Shih Tzus that were born with the hair defect. They were both AKC papered -- but have the rare short hair. It's a different texture than normal Shih Tzu hair, and they shed. ;) However, they are so much cuter because you can see their faces, and I don't have to pay any major grooming fees! I do trim their hair most of the time -- because when their hair grows it just looks sloppy. You can see them here: www.beneful.com
