Because the injury is near the mouth I do not think topical creams and ointments are going to be a good solution for the problem. If it is just a skin irritation for a chew toy odds are that it will heal quickly on its own. If the problem does not seem to be getting better I would consult with your vet who might be able to prescribe a topical that is safe for the mouth area.
