White gums in your feline companion could be the sign of a number of conditions.

I would advise you to take your cat to the vet, who can undertake a more detailed examination of your pet and should then be able to start treatment of your animal right away.

The color of your cat's gums can normally give a good indication of what is wrong with your cat, however.

It may be difficult for you to properly check the state of your cat's gums at home, so taking your animal to the vet would be the best course of action.

My cat's gums are white. What could be causing this?

White gums normally indicate a couple of problems with your feline friend:

  • White gums can sometimes mean anemia - a condition where there are fewer red blood cells than there should be.
  • White gums could also mean that your cat is in shock.
Both these conditions mean there is less oxygen in the blood than there should be. You should take your cat to the vet straight away.

You should see your vet. There are many things that can cause it but it's not generally a good sign.

Does your kitty have any other possible symptoms you've noticed? Could be an infection, could be from a parasite you aren't aware of, bacteria or virus, early sign of a problem with liver or kidneys, some disease, could be lots of things.

Pale gums are not a good sign. If you caught that before anything else, you may have a very lucky kitty.

Hope your baby is okay.
