Mal-Shi puppies are a mix breed dog (Maltese and Shih Tzu) - so you are kind of at the mercy of mother nature on knowing if they will be like Maltese puppies (usually docile and very much a good lap dog) - or more like the Shih Tzu (have more playful side to them and are slightly larger).
I have one friend that has Maltese dogs and my sister has a Shih Tzu. Both are great breeds of dogs. It all depends on the person that you are getting the dog for and their lifestyle & health. And each puppy in a litter will be different personality wise too! Just like human families :)
