How long can King Charles Spaniels be left alone for during the day?

I'm forced to leave my dog at home for 8 1/2 hours mon-fri.. SAD in the mornings watching her stare at me through the window. She watches all the way until I'm out of the parking and out of sight.  I'm proof you can leave them alone but only if you absolutely have to. You guys/girls should see when I get home. She goes Crazyy!! So happy to see me. Licks me all over my face!  I love my dog! King Charles Spaniels are Awesome!

No dog likes to be left alone for long periods of time, no matter what breed it is Maddy.  Dogs are sociable animals and thrive on love, affection and companionship and take being left alone as "punishment".  A few short hours at a time is certainly the most I would leave my own Golden Retriever.

Okay thankyou, if they had access to the garden with space to run around would it be able to be left for 4/5 hours maybe? And obviously a reasonable walk before and after?

Yes that would be fine and that's what we do if our dog will be left alone.The back garden is secure and safe for her to explore.

You shouldnt leave any dog for more than 2 or 3 hours at a time :))
