Imagine a long, heavy bodied dachshund, with a bit longer legs/tail. The fur of a golden retriever (mine was oddly black…I don't know how). He had all the personality traits of a golden retriever, but also protective and champion like a dachshund. Mine loved to burrow (under my patio in fact), very active dog, but extremely loyal and SMART, he understood commands in 6 languages.
They look like a small golden retriever. Their hair is very soft like a golden and also has the same coloring as goldens (light/strawberry blondish). Their tail also looks like a golden with its hair feathering down. Their ears, eyes and nose resemble more of a dacshund.
We have had one for 91/2 years. She has the qualities of a golden - very friendly, loves kids, loves to play ball, loves to swim, snuggler, etc. She has the quality of the dachshund when she needs to step up for defense. She is a protector. She has weighed between 17-20lbs. Over the years. She is not too big, and she's not too small. She is very manageable!
I have a dachshund, golden retriever mix, and he has the body of a very large dachshund, but a golden retriever face, and fur length. He is basically a golden retriever, with very very short legs.
There very cute the have the body of a Daschund and the coat of a retriever or the face and a littler bigger like by 2-5 inches .. One of my neighbors have one very friendly dogs and not too wild !!
