This depends on where your trying to kill them in your home or outside in a garden? Inside you can lay a salt line (a quarter inch wide) where they are trying to enter your home and presto no more slugs in the house. Outside you can use salt though it is not recommended a better option for outside is beer. Just cut off the bottom portion of a 16 or 20 ounce plastic drink bottle. Bury the new container level with the dirt and fill with beer to within a quarter inch of the top of the container, depending on the size of the area that you are working with you may need to make more containers. Experiment to see what works best for you.

BEER!!! Take a 2 liter soda bottle and cut it off at the shoulder; invert the top piece and tape it to the bottom so it looks like a funnel; add half a can of beer and set it in the slug path. They can get in but not out. Just remember to empty and replace the beer regularly.

Use beer. Slugs (as well as snails) cannot resist beer. Fill a container halfway with beer and leave it where the slugs can get it.

Once the slugs go down into the container, they wouldn't be able to come out and they'll drown.

Remember the container has to be deep so that the slugs wouldn't escape by climbing out.

Moth balls and salt. Salt will kill plants but if poured directly on the slug, it will kill them. The moth balls laid out around the plants will work the best

The slugs are attracted to the yeast and hops.  Make sure the rim is at ground level.  And deep enough where they can't crawl out.  Warm beer works the best for my slugs.
