For my chickens, I keep the laying feed in a feeder at all times. I have one of those hanging feeders and I keep it full. The scratch and cracked corn I would put some out in the morning and again in the evening. Maybe a cup or so. Chickens love that scratch and corn and will eat that before eating the laying feed. My chickens also are let out to free range so they get bugs and grass to eat too.
