Garter snakes are not poisonous. I know for sure. As for the teeth I really wouldn't call them fangs like a cobra would have or anything like that. They do have very small teeth and I have been bitten by garters several times by picking them up in my yard.

Garter snakes were believed to not have venom, but recent studies have proven they do. But, they don't have the back fangs to inject the venom. They are pretty much harmless to humans. They feed on smaller things such as frogs and lizards. The venom is attacks their food by entering through wounds from chewing their prey.

I got my Garter Snake today, she bit my arm twelve times and tore one of her teeth in the process.
They only bite when scared, and it doesnt hurt or swell, and yes, they have a very mild venom.

Garter snakes DO have teeth, which are located in the back of their mouths. They also have a very mild poison that cannot cause too much damage to a human. The venom mixes with the garter's saliva and then seeps into the wounds of its' prey. Garter snakes only bite when they are startled or frightened, as with any other animal. (Unless you smell of worms, fish, slugs, ect. Then the garter might just be looking for a snack)

Garter Snakes do have fangs, tiny ones. I don't think they have venom.
They feel like a pinch when they bite, but only when their scared.

Garter snakes have tiny hair like teeth. They can't hurt you but they sure scare you to death. I have the experience of these snakes several times while hunting in the woods.

Garter snakes have larger teeth in the back of their mouth (hind fangs). They do have a mild venom but do not have a effective method of delivery besides through wounds. If you let one chew on you long enough it's venom can get it. It is non-lethal but will make you swell up and bleed quite a bit.

Thanks to you all, I just got it from a friend of mine who passed away, and I decided to take care of it for him. Her name is Makayle and she is a really nice snake. But when my husband picked her up, she tried to strike at the wall as if trying to get away from him. So I don't know if she would bite us. She doesn't act aggressive, but I am scared of the fangs. Lol.

Garter snakes are not poisonous. That I know. I'm unsure about the teeth, but they are the most docile snake, I've heard. Although I do not agree with keeping a wild animal as a pet by any means if that's what you're doing.
