That's called an abcess. Probably from a cat bite. They're nasty. You need to take her to the Vet asap. She needs to be put on antibiotics and the abcess might need to be drained. If you don't get her to a vet, it will either pop or continue to swell. Either way, it will continue to fester and she could die from it.
I can't afford the vet to drain it for me... His charge was 500 dollars. Is there something that I can do here at home? If it pops and drains on antibiotics, can that be a good thing?
My cat has a puncture wound on her back left leg. It is swollen and she cannot apply any pressure to it. I took her to the vet... He said it was a cat bite, very common but can be deadly. All I could afford was the office visit & antibiotics... He would not tell me that she would be ok... Is JUST antibiotics enough for her? Should I be doing more? She is eating and drinking! I have read on here that maybe I should apply a warm cloth a couple times a day and hope for it to drain...is this true?
