Yes,they can, but they need to go to a vet to make sure it hasn't caused a punctured lung or internal injuries, etc.
have a pup who got attacked.,...at first seemed in lot of pain around lung area and saliva (small amount, but more than usual)).....now (30 min. Later) calmer and alert, and fluid has seemed to stop...she seems a little restless and not readily laying down(short periods)..
Depends on the extent of the break .. In any event..It would still need to be examined by a vet and perhaps administered pain medication .. ONLY a vet can determine what the best treatment is.
