My Dog Has A Broken Tail I Can Tell Because It's Curled The Wrong Way At The End. It's Been Broken For About A Year(my Dad Said The Vets Wouldn't Do Any Thing About A Broken Tail). It Got Shut In The Door. It Doesn't Seem To Be Hurting Him At All?

My puppy had a broken tail too, and I took him to 3 vets,  the first vet said there is nothing they can do,  I paid 41.00, the second vet said its a break in the tail, nothing to worry about, the puppy doesnt feel any  pain,, this one cost 38.00, I decided to take puppy to one more vet, this vet did an xray on puppy, and said the only thing they could do is remove part of the tail, otherwise its just unsightly, basically it may not look good broken but there was nothing other than remove the part of the tail that was broken. I paid about 120.00 for this appointment, so in all I spent  191.00 and really nothing was done,  I have 7 puppies going up for sale, and just going to sell him cheaper than the other ones, he is cute and healthy but has a broken tail.  If your dog doesnt hurt at all I would just leave it alone,  unless you want to have part of the tail removed, and not sure how much that would cost.

After initial injury broken tails are treated with pain medication and anti-inflammatories.  They are not splinted or casted.  Benign neglect is the usual treatment of choice.
If your dog is unable to use the tail, it continues to be painful; it becomes severely infected, or continues to be a problem for your dog it can be amputated.  Have your veterinarian examine the tail to determine the correct treatment.
