Yep It s a Jewel Spider- Austracantha minax. A male one is black and tan and have less than 6 spikes. The females are more colorful yellow and black and have 6 spikes.

My neighbor had a male one in a web with 4 spikes. Creepy yet harmless according to web, no pun intended.

Jewel Spider is my guess. They are usually in tropical or sub
tropical places (Australia) but, go figure, I just found one in my carport in north Mississippi.

My guess is the micrathena gracilis also know as the spined micrathena. You can go to spiders
of north america to check out a picture of it to be sure.
