There is a spider in Australia with a white diamond on it's back.  It is called a "whiteback."  Their bite can cause the skin around the bite to become necrotic and spread.  There is nothing that can stop the necrosis once it has started.  People have had fingers, toes, etc, cut off to stop the spread.  Fortunately, the necrosis only happens with people who have an allergy to the spider's venom.
