Well, if you choose to clip the border terriers coat instead of stripping it this will leave the dead hair in and if it isn't removed it will cause doggy odour. You can groom regularly as well but don't bath too often and never use conditioner because it can soften the coat and will take two to three strips before you notice an improvement in the coat if its been clipped instead of stripped, this should be done by a professional groomer because its time consuming and it costs more than clipping the dog.
