First of all, you should know cause of constipation in your dog. Most common cause of constipation in dogs is lack of fiber in diet. Giving him fibrous diet can help to treat constipation. Other cause of this condition in dogs are
  1. Intestinal obstruction
  2. Dehydration
  3. Foreign material ingestion like toys or bones
  4. Some types of bacterial infection
Differential diagnosis is necessary because treatment depends upon underlying cause. So, get help from vet.

You can give your dog dulcolax 5-20 mg tablet once a day or 1/2 - 2 pediatric suppositories (10mg) once a day. Or metamucil (unflavored) 1 tsp. Per 10-25 lb mixed in food.or phillips milk of magnesia 2-4 tsp. Per 5 lb every 6 hours

I am having the same problem with my chihuahua. The vet said to feed it 100 % pumpkin, not pumpkin with the spices but just regular pumpkin in the can. I've heard by a lot of people that it works within a day.

Dogs eat grass to help them with this. Its natural and it does help. When you see dogs do this its for a reason cats do the same thing. Try getting clean grass and try putting it in there food.

You can give him mineral oil 1/4 of a teaspoon. This should work over night. And if you need to you can give more the next day.
