My dog was doing the same thing. She is almost 15 years old and was diagnosed with Cushing's disease. She is now on medication (Lysodren) and her Cortisol levels have come down, but she is still pacing and drinking a lot of water. She is very tired and does this during the day and most of the night. We have to keep her awake during the day, so that hopefully, she will be able to sleep at night.

Your dog might be having pain or discomfort because both pacing and shaking are signs of pain. There are many conditions that can cause pain. Following is a list of some common causes of pain in dogs. Final diagnosis is possible by visiting a vet who can order for radiological investigations after physical examination.

1. Muscular Problem
2. Canine bloat
3. Skeletal problems
4. Disc injury
5. Traumatic injury
6. Damage and inflammation of the tissue

So, take your dog to vet.
