Different dog breeds DO eat specific kinds of foods but also dogs within the same breed may eat different kinds of foods depending on their specific dietary needs. Ask your dog's veterinarian what types of foods are healthy for your dog because allergies and diets can vary for all kinds of dogs. If your dog is healthy then you can search online types of foods your specific breed of dog can eat, and there are many credible sites that can list your options.

The dog food companies trying to push breed specific food is just away for them to get more money. They is very little difference between them. The only thing I can see a reasonable difference that might be worth paying for is if you get food made for small breeds. Their kibble is smaller and easier for all small dogs to eat.

You really need to look at your specific dog and go with their personal needs. For nearly 20 years now I have only owned Boxers and have had them on all different foods. One had allergies so she was on food with limited ingredients. One suffered from chronic pancreatitis, so he was on a low fat diet. One now eats a dehydrated raw diet after dealing with cancer, twice. My newest one is on a holistic grain-free food in hopes of warding off any of the other health issues I have had in the others. (Frankly, if he wasn't such a hungry boy, I would put him on the same raw diet. He would bust my budget if I did that.)

With all that I have said, if you can find a decent grain free foo, go with that. Buy the best you can afford. Taste of the Wild is a reasonably priced grain free food. Earthborn is more expensive, but has a better track number on ingredients, and never has had a recall.

For dry dog food .. The primary difference in dog food for a large breed vs a small breed is the size of the pieces.
