No, hamsters do not get their periods. Hamsters reproductive system is way different than a humans; therefore, they do not experience a menstrual cycle. I happen to be looking this up because I just found out my hamster's butt is bleeding bout 2 minutes ago, and I went online look for some answers. Leave the hamster in the cage to rest, and DO NOT touch it (that can cause germs) or try to wash it!! Leave it be and maybe it will go away. If you are that concerned, consult a veterinarian on why they are bleeding. I am not sure why a hamster would be bleeding if you are sure it wasn't bit by another animal in your home, cut itself on something in its cage, or some other cut/bite related reason. Hope this was somewhat of a help to anyone who is reading this. Best of luck to your hamster!! (If it is bleeding out of its butt, lol.)
My hamster was bleeding and I took her to the vet, he said it is most likely to have an infection as hamsters don't get periods... Take them to the vet and he may give you some antibiotics. The vet charged me £10 for consultation and drugs so not too expensive!
It may be a period. Yes, hamsters do get periods, they start when they are six weeks old. But it might be an infection. Bring it to the vet if you really think it should be treated if you think its not a period.
my hamster is having the same problem she is roughly 2 years old and is a female dwarf hamster, hamsters can't get periods due to their reproductive systems and she has had a lot of problems we are going to take her to the vet i don't want her to die early of an urinary tract infection i suggest you all do the same it could be much worse and deadly! :(
I suggest letting nature take its course. If she/he is whining and you can tell she is in definite pain, I suggest putting her down. Mine is doing the exact same thing. She hasn't been with a male and she is surprisingly happy and runs on her wheel. She isn't aggressive or anything.
My mother told me to let nature run its course. I'm definitely going to be sad when she passes. Hope I helped!
My hamster had the same thing happening. It was the intestines hanging out of its butt. I'm 13 and had one too. It actually died yesterday. We put it down because of the same reasons you're having. I think you should take it to a vet right away. I don't know if you're willing to pay $300 to save him? I put mine down. I think its best to put him down so he doesn't suffer. Believe me I cried for 2 days. Its better for it. I hope this helped you.
Yesterday my hamster died, she was 10months old and I'm 13, it was so hard for me to say goodbye to her, because I felt like it was my fault, I felt so guilty because I hadnt played with her for a while, and she was still clean, but I came home from my dad's to find blood in her bedding, I looked at her and from that minute on I was in hysterics :( You should really get it sorted before you lose her :( x
Okay the same thing is happening to my hamster and we just recently put a Winter White Russian male hamster in the same cage as her...and she is bleeding out of her butt other than taking it to a VET, what should I do!?!?!?
I got my hamster about 5 weeks ago and I just put her/him in a cage with my other hamster they were just fine for last 4 weeks then I noticed that they are fighting a lot so I pick up my one dwarf hamster and see there is dry blood underneath, around that you know area..what should I do???!!!???!!!???!!!
